The Sonic All-Stars - The Sounds Of Star Wars (1977)

I'm a pretty avid collector of soundtracks and film related albums.  Lately, I've been thinking about posting soundtracks on a more regular basis.  So I've decided to post a new soundtrack (or as this post a soundtrack related album) every Sunday.

To kick-off Soundtrack Sunday (I know, it took me a while to come up with that) I've decided to choose this tasty little album from Bruce Baxter.  I was 11 when Star Wars came out and like the rest of the world I went a bit Star Wars mad and bought most things I could find.  Most stuff was great, some not so.  I've always had a notion that Bruce went to his local Rumbelows, bought himself a Bontempi, went home and recorded this.  See what you reckon.  Personally, I love it!

1.    Star Wars Intro/Star Wars Main Title
2.    Princess Leia's Theme
3.    Imperial Attack
4.    Ben's Death/Tie Fighter Attack
5.    Cantina Band
6.    The Throne Room
7.    End Title

I was born in '78 so it was the hysteria around Jedi that first got me interested (and the toys ofcourse).

Can you imagine if this was recorded by Les Baxter not Bruce Baxter? That would have been something! All the same, it's nice to see a new set of Star Wars tunes. I had a guy email me a while back looking for a particular version of the theme music, I sent him a link to 14 different versions but none of them were the right one. How many can there be!!!!!!?

Craig, wow a version by Les would be fantastic! I have loads of Star Wars LPs and that kind of thing as while I stopped collecting the toys I never stopped getting records. It's gone full circle in our house now as my 4 year old son lives and breathes all things Star Wars. He even listens to the soundtracks more or less constantly on Spotify!

Now a Star Wars Goes Latin LP would be nice!

Though I haven't yet listened to it, you may want to check out the following for a possible latin influence on SW music.

Star Wars - Cocktails in the Cantina

Thanks much for this Star Wars share.

Is there any chance that you have the following LP on the way?

The Galactic Force Band - Spaced Out Disco (1978)

Crichton, thanks for the heads up on Cocktails at the Cantina, I'll have to look out for that one. No, don't have the GFB album. Been on my wanted list for a while. Seen it a few times at record fairs, but the prices have been ridiculous. Turns up on eBay every now and then too, again at a price bigger than I'm willing to pay. I'm sure it'll turn up one day.

superb!
I have this on vinyl - it was the very first record that I ever bought at age 6. it took weeks of saving up pocket money. I bought it in Boots the chemist (uk) back when they sold records

I love this album, it takes me back to my childhood. I was 6 years old in 1977 (I'm 40 now!!) and I was Star Wars crazy (my wife says that nothing has changed there). I had that album on cassette, and a few years ago my brother saw it at a carboot sale and bought it for me (as my old cassette had been chewed up may years prior). Sadly I no longer have a cassette player, but I still have tapes, as I will one day convert them to digital. Cheers for the blog ane the memories :)
