The Sonic All-Stars - The Sounds Of Star Wars (1977)

I'm a pretty avid collector of soundtracks and film related albums.  Lately, I've been thinking about posting soundtracks on a more regular basis.  So I've decided to post a new soundtrack (or as this post a soundtrack related album) every Sunday.

To kick-off Soundtrack Sunday (I know, it took me a while to come up with that) I've decided to choose this tasty little album from Bruce Baxter.  I was 11 when Star Wars came out and like the rest of the world I went a bit Star Wars mad and bought most things I could find.  Most stuff was great, some not so.  I've always had a notion that Bruce went to his local Rumbelows, bought himself a Bontempi, went home and recorded this.  See what you reckon.  Personally, I love it!

1.    Star Wars Intro/Star Wars Main Title
2.    Princess Leia's Theme
3.    Imperial Attack
4.    Ben's Death/Tie Fighter Attack
5.    Cantina Band
6.    The Throne Room

The George Shearing Quintet - Latin Escapade (1956)

One of my favourite records.  Great to listen to when you're having a BBQ in the garden.  You may have to wait a while though before you experience that pleasure!

The Soul Of Sounds Orchestral (1965)

It's been a while since we've had any Sounds Orchestral.

Sounds Superb (MFP, 1972)

A great MFP compilation featuring Kaempfert, Legrand, Goodwin and Chaquito.  I wonder if this is where the Sounds Superb label originated?

As suggested I'll now also try and offer an alternative to Rapidshare, so here's the same file at Megaupload.

Andre Previn - Two For The Seesaw (1962)

A really fine soundtrack from Andre Previn.  Never seen the film though.

Special thanks to Crichton72 for cleaning and sprucing up the files, so all links have been updated.

Jazzy takes on hits from the fantastic Laurie Holloway.

Lovely album this.  Just right for a Friday afternoon while you're winding down the working week and waiting for the weekend to start.

Some nice versions of popular standards on here.  Title track is very good.

The Border Brass - The Sweet Sounds Of Tijuana (1970)

OK, so there's the standard fare of Guantanamera and Love Is Blue on here, but the Border Brass also chuck in a few surprises with a cracking version of Galveston being the highlight for me.

Button-Down Brass - This Guy's In Love (1968)

You can't go wrong with that funky trumpet, can you?
