More DMCA Complaints Today

Well, three more posts have been removed today due to a DMCA complaint.

To be honest, I'm not sure this is going to be worth it anymore if they're just going to take everything down.

It is because your fans follow you in real time!!!

Simon, maybe hang in there for a bit and see if things settle down. These clampdowns seem to come in waves and do not follow any logical pattern. I have about 10 or 11 more LPs to post that were ripped last month and will see how things go after that.

You're one of several who've been hit this week. Someone has a burr up their backsides, but nlgbbbblth is right, this comes and goes in waves occasionally. Hang tough.

Yeah, thanks Paul, Don. You're right. I may leave it a week or so and then try again. Like you say, maybe this will pass.

"If you are a copyright holder and strongly object to a record being posted on In-Flight Entertainment, then upon verification of such copyright ownership, the record will be removed immediately."

You don't own copyright to anything you post. What a surprise you get DMCA's. What an ego to expect copyright owners to submit to "verification" and have to beg to keep what is theirs.

Not sure I am getting the comment above right (Skavrede). Are you defending the deletion moves? Is that you behind this? Are you the traitor here?

On another blog hit this week was the idea mentioned that there must be a traitor among us, as this is not a big wave, nothing big going on, but only these sister-blogs are involved. (Let me call them sisters, all these interconnected blogs of the same or similar genres.)

If Skavrede reads this: what exactly do you think are the copyright holders losing when their old records are being re-introduced to people who had never even heard of the artists?
Since these records are no longer available through retail (AND WILL NEVER BE AVAILABLE AGAIN!!!), what exactly are they losing?

All the LPs that could have been sold if only these evil downloaders were put to jail, or what exactly was you argument?

Simon, if you decide that it might be necessary to go private, please don not forget to invite me! You and the "sisters" are a part of my daily life, and I am not willing to give this hobby up. So many new artists, singers, players and orchestras I have got to know in the last year, this is really amazing. And I don't allow sheeple as Skavrede to piss into my joy!

great blog. and i agree completely with the previous post in regards to the fact that these records are out of print, most are not available for 'legal' digital downloads. so any actual sales would be via ebay or used record stores/pawn shops from which the artist, or should i say record company, sees no money.

keep up the solid work.

The complaints are probably coming not from the copyright holders, but someone who wants to keep prices for these LPs high - eg. someone trying to sell stuff on ebay at ridiculous prices.

I do a Soul/Jazz blog, and a few months ago I had exactly the same problems as you are having now. It's very hard to get info from the links they give you, but eventually I did find out that all the complaints came from copyright holders, mainly Chappell co. Eventually I took my blog private, and also put a password on all download files. For now, it seems to have worked. Best Of Luck.

Hum, record companies that have no interest in reissuing these recordings are now complaining because you are introducing people to this wonderful music for free. Those who complain seem to be the biggest hypocrites.

Thank goodness blogs like this one exist! If they didn't a lot of singers, musos etc would now never be heard by anyone!. Sure, IF you own the copyright COMPLAIN so the blogger can delete the item. Otherwise, why is someone hell bent on destroying the revival of all these old records?

I remember some of these artists from my youth. Others I don't, but I recognize them when I hear them. I enjoy this type music, but you can't find it in stores and it isn't on the airwaves anymore. Yet when younger friends and family hear this for the first time, it's a revelation to them. They quickly learn to enjoy and appreciate it.

It would be a sad day indeed if this music disappeared. Please hang in there and keep the blog going.

Go ahead, Simon.

I agree with the above comments. If the record companies released these recordings on cd then fair play, we could buy them, and I do still buy.

But, if they don't release, have no plans to release them, and just let these recordings sit in their vaults gathering dust I have no sympathy for them.

I forgot to add, if you do decide to go private, please would you invite me as I love your blog and would like to still support the valuable service you are providing to genuine music fans.

Regards

Paul

I received several DMCA takedown mails from blogger, and I answered to kindly supply me with the data of the person or persons who claimed for the copyright infringement to check whether they are the copyright holders or not.

I didn't receive such claims anymore...

But soon after blogger blocked my blog (tongue twisted as it seems)

I had reopened it several times, but as soon as I did I started again to receive claims.

Last time I reopened I said it to a small group of persons.. and agin more claims and also Rapidshare taking down my (paid) account and all my files where gone forever.

So just in case, make regular backup of your blog.. ;)

By the way... good job! I follow you and get some good music every now and then.

I say just take all the deleted links and upload them again, offering them through a new blogger frontpage..voila! Their only weapon is link removal to make hard work, but it's easily fought by getting people (readers) to upload and host the links on their own accounts.

It's never going to be artists losing revenue for records like these, just tiresome little 'entrepreneurs' who are probably buying up the back catalogues of defunct record companies and old copyrighted music with a future view to cheap compilation reissues and easy royalties when the music crops up on TV.
